“Punto di partenza: il desiderio di una cucina arancione. Punto di arrivo: cinque stanze di tinte accese, intense, vellutate, calde, sature”. Così inizia il servizio di “Case da Abitare” dedicato alla mia casa. Una casa nata a “colpi di istinto” dove il colore è protagonista e mezzo caratterizzante e decorativo. La completa libertà creativa mi ha portato ad inventare mobili con elementi di recupero: un pallet con ruote si trasforma in tavolino “nomade”, un mobile da officina diventa banco bar ed utile contenitore per la cucina, i tubi zincati dell’aspirazione di una falegnameria servono a distribuire l’aria calda nelle stanze, i cinque frigoriferi anni ‘50 diventano capienti contenitori, un telo di plastica spessa si avvolge su un tubo di inox ed ecco risolto il box doccia. ”Non una casa-biglietto da visita, come spesso intendono i progettisti quando disegnano spazi per la propria vita quotidiana, ma un distillato espressivo di fantasia, di sogni e del proprio mondo interiore”.

‘Point of departure: the desire to have an orange kitchen. Point of arrival: five rooms of raging colour; generous hues of a full, hot, velvet intensity’. Thus began the article in ‘Casa da Abitare’ devoted to my house. A house born by ‘pure instinct’ where colour is the leading player and the key to opening up the character and ‘costume’. The absolute freedom of creative expression inspired me to produce furniture out of re-cycled materials: a pallet on wheels becomes a ‘roving’ table, shop fittings turn into a drinks cabinet and useful kitchen unit; extractor pipes, zinc-plated, from a joiner’s workshop are employed to circulate hot air around the rooms; the collection of five fifties’-style refrigerators become excellent and generous storage space; a sheet of heavy-duty plastic is wrapped around stainless steel tubing and – there you have it – a shower unit. ‘Not a house that’s an obvious calling card, the type normally associated with designers and their precious living quarters, but very much the residue of a distillation of fantasy, of dreams and of this particular designer’s inner self’.
